We have exclusive tie up in place with the Limestone mine owners in Sultanate of Oman. We are in position to supply the Limestone Material FOB/CFR/RETAIL Tuticorin Port stock yard, India terms to various Asian markets from Sultanate of Oman.

The limestone is used in the lime calcination plant, cement industry, glass industry, steel industry, paper industry & chemical industry.

Opportunity for Sultanate of Oman Limestone Trade.

Given the potential shortfall in supply, and an increase in gypsum/Limestone demand in India, a significant price increase for gypsum in the coming years is likely. Even though gypsum accounts for just two to three percent of the total cost of cement sales, cement manufactures cannot help but remain sensitive to any price increase. Against this backdrop, the potential supply of Limestone/gypsum from the Sultanate of Oman becomes a very interesting prospect.

Oman is gearing up for an increase in exports. For example, the Port of Salalah Gypsum / Limestone has started a massive expansion to handle future general cargo, including gypsum, Limestone exported from the Sultanate of Oman. The US$130 million expansion will be completed by 2018 and includes the construction of 1,266 meters of linear general cargo berths with drafts of 18 meters. Once completed, the port will be able to handle the capacity of 40 million tons per annum of dry bulk commodities.

The Processing and Major Uses of Limestone

Crushed limestone is used as a filter stone in on-site sewage disposal systems. Powdered limestone is also used as a sorbent (a substance that absorbs pollutants) at many coal-burning facilities. Limestone is not found everywhere. It only occurs in areas underlain by sedimentary rocks.

Limestone is mainly calcium carbonate (CaCo3), when it is heated it is decomposed in calcium oxide(cao) and cabon dioxide (Co2). It is a valuable natural resource used in many things are listed below....

  • for making cement-heated with clay in kiln.
    • concrete-mixed with sand, water and crushed rock.
    • mortar-mixed with sand and water.
  • In glass making industry-heated with sand and soda (sodium bicarbonate).
  • To neutralize excess acidity-Limestone, quicklime and slaked lime are all used to neutralise excess acidity - which may be caused by acid rain - in lakes and in soils.
  • Limestone can be used as building material and in manufacturing of iron.
  • It is the raw material of making quicklime and slacked lime.
  • It is also used as white pigment or filler in products such as toothpaste or paints, and as a chemical feedstock for the production of lime.
  • As a reagent in flue-gas desulphurization, it reacts with SO2 for air pollution control.
  • Purified, it is added to bread and cereals as a source of calcium
  • It can be used for remineralizing and increasing the alkalinity of purified water to prevent pipe corrosion and to restore essential nutrient levels
  • It is often found in medicines and cosmetics.

We have good market for this Limestone.
